What could be better than passing a few thousands of steps in the heat? Sounds entertaining? Okay, let's add to it beautiful mountain views, forest all around, narrow passages, waterfalls and cold breeze, and on the top: cold beer as a reward. Now it should be definitely more encouraging. Spending time in Bärenschützklamm is really worth the effort. Located in the Austrian Mixnity, around 40km (an hour of drive) from Graz. The most comfortably would be to get there by car, but public transportation is available as well. It's good to remember about comfortable sport shoes, good clothes, water and snacks. You can also invite your friends for a hike together and pass those crazy steps together.

Bärenschützklamm

Travelers with a fear of heights should think twice before choosing Bärenschützklamm for a next destination, because the wooden ladders leading to the top made me a goosebumps a few times. Altogether the place contains 164 ladders and around 2500 steps. Experienced hikers for sure would appreciate the fact that around there are beautiful lakes, which provide additional paths for discovering.
When we went there with our Czech friend Michal, we didn't expect that the whole way up to the top would be so long. After a short pause in one of typical Austrian Buschenschank (small, family restaurants located up in the mountains, but not only) and a sip of a cold shandy (known in Austria as Radler), we decided to not continue the hike, but rather go back down while we still had the sunlight. Even though the hike up was not always easy, the whole adventure was one of my favorites and I honestly recommend it for everyone who plans to travel in those regions.
