If there's anything I like the most in interiors, that would be with no doubt, the simple Scandinavian style. White interiors was always something that suit my taste, even though in the overwhelming faze for buying oak furnitures, it wasn't very popular at that time. It's no surprise, because the white furnitures and interiors were associated with sterile and unfashionable style for a long time in Poland, and that caused the stores to not offer almost anything in that color. Luckily with the time passing by many people changed their opinion (including my mum), and finally understood how easy is to maintain the order in the scandinavian styled homes.
While changing a flat in Austria with my boyfriend, we agreed to take the newly built, white apartment. Being the first person that uses it brings several advantages - all equipment is new, walls are clean and the unfurnished space gives a lot of opportunities to make it according to our taste. That's why we also implemented a few DIY ideas - especially in case of the scandinavian style dining table.

Where to find a cheap table for your dining room?

The frequently searched fraze, just after "white table" is the cheap living room table. Where to find one? Of course, the first thought is Ikea, which is well known of their cheap, scandinavian style, but the quality of furnitures doesn't always match our expectations. Shelfs or cabinets aren't ass exploited as the table, on which you eat ans sometimes also spill something. PCV furnitures may not be the smartest option if you want them to last years. Good idea is to find used, wooden table on the auction portal or the furniture flee market in your neighborhood. You can restore it, paint it and you won't lose too much money. The product you get is in a good quality and serves the environment well.

Dining table in Scandinavian style - do it yourself

When the furniture stores are failing your vision, and in the flee markets you find nothing interesting, it's a chance to can roll up the sleeves and make a dining table by yourself. No need for the sophisticated equipment, and the elements will certainly be found with no problem. The following table is an example of my boyfriend's creative invention (I was painting!).

To do scandinavian wooden table you need:
- Wooden door. Pull out handle and hinges- Glue to fill the holes- Abrasive paper to smooth the surface and remove old paint (an automatic sandpaper device is also a good option)- Paint (preferably acrylic), optionally also varnish. The smoothed door can be covered with a roller or brush- The elements that will be used for table legs. Here the pieces of the white Ikea bed were used. You can also install wooden dowels (for example, to buy in Obi, Castorama) or even a metal ones. Also be equipped with a drill and a set of wood screws.

Scandinavian style dining table - decoration

Decoration in the base of the scandinavian style, and thanks to that, the cold white interiors are getting completely different look. White table gives you plenty of opportunities to style it up almost every day. We usually have the decor from Ikea in the shape of three glass jars, where I fit the succulent and candles. Also, I sometimes add some fresh flowers. In the Autumn version I use small, decorative pumpkins, handmade wreath (made of sticks found in the park) and som leaves.
You can use diversified jugs and candleholders - those things are often found by me in Pepco and I regret not having it in Austria!

Dodatki to podstawa stylu skandynawskiego, dzięki czemu z pozoru zimne, białe wnętrza nabierają życia.

Living room chairs

If are here any fans of the tv-show Friends, for sure you'd agree with me that unmatched chairs (and armchairs) is the constantly coming-back trend, that I'm also interested in. The primary plan to bring some color into the living room was to find a few wooden chairs on the auction portals and paint them yellow, gree, blue and red. In the end we've decided to leave them unpainted after finding ikea chairs that fitted our style (3 for 15€). However we still didn't drop the idea completely - who knows, maybe we will do it in the next, dream house? :-)
